State Sen. Carrie Ruud, R-Breezy Point, recently traveled to Philadelphia for the National Foundation for Women Legislators annual conference, where she was recognized as an Elected Women of Excellence award winner.
The award acknowledges the hard work and dedication of women leaders from across the country. In all, 19 women were recognized.
Along with the award, Ruud was honored by being elected to serve on the national board of directors for the National Foundation for Women Legislators by her peers.
The conference serves as a national forum designed to encourage the building alliances among elected women, industry leaders and policy experts.
"This event was a great opportunity to discuss and learn about the policy initiatives taking place across the country," said Ruud. I was able to learn from industry leaders and policy experts about a variety of issues. In addition, it was a great honor to be selected as a Women of Excellence Award Winner, and also to be elected to the national board. Both are amazing honors."
