Sen. Carrie Ruud, R-Breezy Point, was appointed to the Midwestern Legislative Conference Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee for their 75th annual meeting in Rapid City, South Dakota.

The committee meeting took place July 10-13 and focused on issues, challenges and interests facing multiple states in the Midwest. Ruud served as one of the representatives for the state of Minnesota.

Appointees were invited to share policies, programs, legislation and challenges from each of their states that they have encountered throughout the last biennium. Other key portions of the conference included agricultural-focused visits to a buffalo ranch and historic fish hatchery, as well as sessions designed to confront the challenges of reimagining educational systems, and how they can address the needs of employees and employers of the future.

“I was honored to be appointed to the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee, and I greatly enjoyed my time representing Minnesota at the MLC annual meeting this year,” Ruud stated in a news release. “The committee examined a number of agricultural issues affecting the midwestern states, and we also discussed support for local food production, Federal carbon and land initiatives, trade, and conservation. It was a great collaborative experience and I look forward to working with this committee in the future.”
