Miss Pine River float fundraiser is Thursday

A wine, beer and spirits tasting event will be held as a fundraiser for a new Miss Pine River parade float. The event will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, May 28, at Bites Grill & Bar in Pine River.

Called Fund Your Float, the event will include light hors d'oeuvres, a silent auction and raffle. Funds raised will go toward the new float.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Tickets are available at JJ's Wireless Woods & Trading Post, Pine River Chamber Information Center, Bites Grill & Bar, Pine River State Bank and Ultimate Liquors, as well as from Miss Pine River Committee members

Pine River Garden Club plant sale is Friday

The Pine River Garden Club will have its annual plant sale in conjunction with the farmers' market from 2:30-5:30 p.m. Friday, May 29.

Crosslake Garden Club plant sale is Saturday

The Crosslake Area Garden Club will hold its annual plant sale from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 30, at the Crosslake Community Center shelter, 14126 Daggett Pine Road, Crosslake.

There will be a merchandise corner for the first time, as well as locally grown plants and garden books, butterfly houses, etc.

Backus Legion to host garden show Saturday

Plants and Potluck, the Backus American Legion's annual garden show, will be held beginning at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 30, at the post's clubrooms.

A complimentary seed, bulb and plant exchange and giveaway will run from 3-4:20 p.m. Hospitality time will get under way at 4:30 p.m. with a potluck following at 6:15 p.m. Those attending are asked to consider bringing garden stock and a potluck dish, but it is not required.
