'Straw Bale Gardens' author to talk Thursday in Crosslake
Join Joel Karsten, author of "Straw Bale Gardens," at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 5, at the Crosslake Community Center to learn how to create a straw bale garden.
Karsten will explain the process and benefits of straw bale gardening, followed by an opportunity to ask him questions and buy "Straw Bale Gardens."
World Day of Prayer set Friday at Nisswa church
The Lakes Area World Day of Prayer service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 6, at Lutheran Church of the Cross in Nisswa.

Everyone is invited to join Christians around the world and the people of the Bahamas in prayer and song to support ecumenical efforts toward justice, peace, healing and wholeness. Following the service, everyone is encouraged to join in fellowship and enjoy treats from the Bahamas.
In case of inclement weather, the service will be Friday, March 13.
Pequot Lakes PTA Carnival is Friday
The Pequot Lakes PTA "Out of this World" carnival will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday, March 6, at Eagle View Elementary School.
The space-themed party is for pr-eK to middle school age children offering fun activities, crafts and bouncy house.
PR-B Family Fun Night is Friday
The Pine River-Backus (PR-B) Elementary PTO will host the 10th annual Family Fun Night from 6-8:30 p.m. Friday, March 6, in the PR-B Commons Area.
Admission is new/gently used puzzles, books, games or DVDs. Food shelf items are welcome.

The event will include food, games, Bingo, raffle items and the Big Basket Chance.
All proceeds support local area clubs and organizations.
Benefit for Crimmins is Saturday in Pine River
A benefit/birthday party for Jason Crimmins will be from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, March 7, at the Pine River American Legion.
Cost is $8 per person for chili with fixings and birthday cake. There will be a silent auction.
Proceeds from the benefit will go toward medical expenses incurred after Crimmins suffered a heart attack and then was in a car accident.
