During the week of Aug. 7-12, Pine River-Backus seniors Luke Sechser and Don Owen participated in the Minnesota All-State music camps.

Owen was selected for the second year to the Minnesota All-State Mixed Choir as a bass, and Sechser was selected to the All-State Symphonic Band as a percussionist.

In March, they recorded auditions and were selected to participate as among the top in the state. The All-State camp involves events and rehearsals throughout the week to help students improve as musicians with a concert performed Saturday, Aug. 12.

The choir was at St. John's University in Collegeville and band was at Minnesota State University-Moorhead.

These students will also participate in February at the Minnesota Music Educators Association mid-winter conference at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
