Pine River-Backus Community Education offers the following upcoming classes. Register online at prbschools.revtrak.net or call 218-587-2080.

• Socializing Your Dog (Basic Obedience): 6:30-7:15 p.m. Tuesdays, April 10-May 15, Pine River-Backus Elementary School gym. Fee: $50 for a first dog, $25 for a second dog.

This class is designed to introduce your canine friend to as many different items, sounds and stimuli as possible in six weeks. Class will also work some basic obedience like loose leash walking, sitting, stay, meeting a stranger and more.

Any age dog is welcome. Dogs must have vaccinations with a veterinarian slip. Space is limited to 12 dogs. Instructor is Sharon Nordrum.

• How to Tame the Reactive Dog: 7:30-8:15 p.m. Tuesdays, April 10-May 15, Pine River-Backus Elementary School gym. Fee: $50 for a first dog, $25 for a second dog.

Is your canine friend less than social? Does it bark at other dogs? Does it pull on its leash, taking you with him when he sees something?

This six-week class will help your dog improve. Instructor Sharon Nordrum has been in dog rescue for 38 years with experience working with all types of dogs with all types of personalities. Her class will teach how to control a dog and what signs to look for to stop a reaction before it starts.

Dogs must be current on vaccinations with proof from a veterinarian. Class is limited to eight dogs.

• Bird House: 3-5 p.m. Wednesdays, April. 11 and 18, Pine River-Backus Elementary School Room 34. Fee: $14.

On week one, participants will build birdhouses with precut wood using a hammer, screwdriver, glue and wood burner. On week two, instructor Mary Jo Litke will guide the class in finishing the wood burning, staining or painting the houses. Those who finish early will be able to play a craft game.

The fee covers all material costs.

• Ravishing Rainbows: 3-5:15 p.m. Thursday, April 12, Pine River-Backus High School Room 255. Fee: $5.

Students can create rainbow art using paint, markers, scissors and glue.
