The Pequot Lakes High School (PLHS) National Honor Society (NHS) recently had its name drawn in a random drawing associated with a book drive held last spring, and $604 will be donated to a nonprofit book organization in the PLHS NHS's name.

Last spring, the NHS donated 604 books to the school library, Brainerd Public Library and Pequot Lakes Community Library as a result of the book drive, which was sponsored by Cheerios. The NHS learned of the project through the We Day program PLHS students attended last fall.

In connection with the book drive, Cheerios had a competition called Cheer on Reading We Day Reading Competition, a random drawing, sweepstakes competition. Organizations that sponsored book drives submitted their contact information and number of books donated to the Cheerios company for the random drawing.

Cheerios agreed to donate $1 for every book the sweepstakes winner collected to the literacy nonprofit First Book organization in the sweepstakes winner's name.
