The Pine River City Council amended the city's administrative fines to include seatbelt, curfew and inattentive driving violations among others.
In other routine business at the Tuesday, June 8, regular meeting, the council:
- Approved a variance and conditional use permit allowing construction of a garage structure closer to the lakeshore than recommended by city zoning ordinances. The council held a public hearing just before the meeting to discuss the topic. Two neighbors were in attendance and did not oppose the project.
- Approved purchase of a line tracer with additional GPS capabilities for the public works department as well as the sale of the existing line tracer. The new tracer is likely to cost around $10,000. The water and sewer portions of the budget will share the cost.
- Approved a $10 bounty on nuisance muskrats responsible for undermining city roads and causing damage. Nuisance trappers must bring tails to Mike Hansen, public works director.
- Amended ordinances pertaining to non-city utility work in city right of way, granting authority to Hansen to determine placement of phone and internet lines, to require a clear record of contractors working on specific sections of right of way and to add clarity to who is responsible if damage is done to city resources. In such a case, bills will be given to the facilitator, not the contractor.
- Approved waiving a transient license fee for the Pine River Market Square in exchange for advertisement.
- Approved a request by the Pine River American Legion for a license for a beer garden serving full strength beer and blended drinks at the Cass County Fair.
