Following are Pine River-Backus (PR-B) Family Center happenings for September.
• Family center tamales: Proceeds from tamale sales help the family center maintain and enrich programs for families and the community. Fresh tamales will be sold from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 14 and 28. Cost is $8 for five tamales. Frozen tamales are available every day during regular business hours. Contact the family center for more information.
• Volunteers needed: Volunteers are needed to help make tamales from 4:30-6 p.m. Tuesdays and to sell tamales Wednesdays. Call the family center if interested.
• Pine River Area Food Shelf: Emergency food shelf hours are from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays. On the second Tuesday of the month (Sept. 13), the food shelf will be open from 3:30-6 p.m.
• Family Center Home Visiting Program: The program has immediate openings for expectant mothers who would like additional support with their pregnancy and parenting their child to 3 years of age. Free prenatal gift bags are available to women who are expecting a baby who live in the Pine River-Backus School District.

• NAPS: Pick up is from 2-4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13.
• WIC: WIC will be at the family center Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 7 and 8.
• Family planning: Family planning will be at the family center Tuesday, Sept. 6. Call 877-275-6123 to schedule an appointment.
