The Pequot Lakes High School varsity speech team took fourth place at the Bemidji Lumberjack Speech tournament Saturday, Feb. 25.
Placing for the Patriots were: Savannah Ellison, second in discussion; Katie Maschhoff, fourth in great speeches; Addie Pierson, fourth in informative; Allie Miller, fifth in humor; Mollie Pierson and Sheridan Wilson, fifth in duo; William Moe and Allie Miller, seventh in duo; and Zach Bauer, seventh in great speeches.
Winning ribbons of excellence were: Courtney Rock and Megan Buffington, duo; Elena Grove, extemporaneous reading; Matthew Fabian, extemporaneous speaking; Ashley Mixer, Elizabeth Blaeser and Mackenzie Renford, poetry; Rock and Molly Johnson, prose; and Moe and Tyler Flowers, storytelling.
Grove won the "Up and Coming" award for extemporaneous reading.
Pequot Lakes will travel to Walker on Saturday, March 4.
