Pequot Lakes School hosting virtual spirit week April 27-May 1

Pequot Lakes School will host a virtual spirit week Monday-Saturday, April 27-May 1, as a time to come together virtually and support each other from afar, as well as to show Patriot Pride and school spirit.

To be entered to win a prize, students are encouraged to post photos to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with #PLHSVIRTUALSPIRITWEEK and then post a comment with the link to their post under the daily spirit week posts on the @PequotLakesHighSchool Facebook page.

Following is a list of daily events:

  • Monday, April 27: Pandemic Hero + Wear or Make Your Own Mask

Dress up as an essential worker or health care provider and post photos, along with any photos of homemade masks.

  • Tuesday, April 28: Distance Learning Day

Post photos of what distance learning looks like for you - whether it's staying in pajamas all day or wearing business attire shirts with sweatpants - and show where homework is done at home.

  • Wednesday, April 29: Day of Caring

Share photos of your Day of Caring taking place at home, in the community or helping a neighbor. Students can also share a photo from Days of Caring from the past

  • Thursday, April 30: Favorite Patriot Memory Day

Share a photo or video of a favorite memory from this school year.

  • Friday, May 1: Patriot Pride Day

Share a best school spirit photo or video.

  • Saturday, May 2: Dress Your Best Day (for juniors and seniors only)

Share photos of your best quarantine fashion - dress up in prom attire or post a photo from a past school dance.

Nancy Vogt is editor of the Pineandlakes Echo Journal, a weekly newspaper that covers eight communities in the Pequot Lakes-Pine River areas - from Nisswa to Hackensack and Pequot Lakes to Crosslake.

She started as editor of the Lake Country Echo in July 2006, and continued in that role when the Lake Country Echo and the Pine River Journal combined in September 2013 to become the Pineandlakes Echo Journal. She worked for the Brainerd Dispatch from 1992-2006 in various roles.

She covers Nisswa, Pequot Lakes, Lake Shore and Crosslake city councils, as well as writes feature stories, news stories and personal columns (Vogt's Notes). She also takes photos at community events.
