Pequot Lakes High School students took to the surrounding communities to lend a hand during their annual Day of Caring on Wednesday, May 6.
Students traveled throughout Pequot Lakes, Jenkins, Breezy Point and Crosslake to provide a number of services for organizations and individuals in need - from yard work at local churches and cemeteries to maintenance on area baseball and softball fields to helping out at Senior Class Care. Students cleared ditches, washed windows and cleaned shoreline.
One of the larger projects saw a number of students and adults work to construct a new playground in Trailside Park in downtown Pequot Lakes. Workers powered through a chilly Wednesday morning to put up new swings, slides and monkey bars for the community's amusement.
The students' work has been appreciated by the public in general, with people from Grace United Methodist Church, Pelican Woods Cemetery and a number of their locations complimenting the students on the work they had done and showing their gratitude for being willing to work in the first place.
