In its regular meeting Monday, March 15, the Pequot Lakes School Board voted unanimously to adopt a resolution relating to property tax abatement for a parking lot improving project at Eagle View Elementary School.
The board hosted a public hearing on the matter before the regular meeting, but no public input was given. The project will expand the early childhood parking area on the east side of Eagle View Elementary School. It will also make the lot one-way for safety reasons.
In its February meeting, the board discussed selling bonds to accrue the necessary funds, and then pay them back over time via the levy. Business manager Heidi Hagen indicated that the project’s impact on the general fund should be “minimal.”
Superintendent Chris Lindholm said he expects the project to begin construction after the school year ends and cost roughly $150,000.
The board also approved a resolution regarding financing the project, establishing compliance with reimbursement bond regulations.
