During its Monday, Sept. 21, meeting, the Pequot Lakes School Board unanimously agreed to appoint Brandon Andersen as an interim school board member to succeed Mike Erholtz, who resigned from his position in July after moving out of the district.

The school district asked for applications for an interim board member, but received none, leaving board chair Kim Bolz-Andolshek to call on board members to nominate an individual. Curt Johnson nominated Andersen, and he was the only nominee put forth.

Andersen served as a school board member from 2011-2018, when he finished third in the school board election to elect two. He finished behind Dena Moody and Tracy Wallin.

“Brandon was the next-highest vote getter in our last election, and he served on the board previously,” Bolz-Andolshek said. “We really appreciate him being willing to participate and round off the board until the end of the year.”

Andersen will serve on the board for the October, November and December meetings. Four newly elected board members in the Nov. 3 election will take over at the January board meeting. Andersen is not on the general election ballot.
