CROSSLAKE — Fire destroyed an outdoor kitchen Thursday, July 1, on the 35000 block of West Shore Drive in Crosslake.

Firefighters responded to the call at about 8:15 p.m., after a passerby saw the flames. The residents were not home at the time.

Crosslake Fire Chief Chip Lohmiller said the fire originated in the outdoor kitchen, which sat on an open-aired, covered deck. The kitchen was a total loss, Lohmiller said, and flames also damaged the deck but did not spread to the house. Firefighters had it under control within 15-20 minutes and cleared the scene in about two hours. Mutual aid from Pequot Lakes and Ideal Township were called but ultimately canceled.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office.
