Options to dispose of household materials outlined

The Crow Wing County Household Hazardous Waste Facility will be closed until further notice. There are other options, however, for residents to dispose of certain materials.

Paint can be disposed of at participating local businesses, which can be found at paintcare.org , but follow these precautions:

  • Contact the location before dropping off to confirm hours and availability.

  • Do not use these drop sites if sick or at high risk for contracting an illness.

  • Follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s recommendations for protecting one’s self and others at https://bit.ly/34nIYTg .

Do not dispose of household hazardous waste with regular garbage. Bring items to an alternative drop site or hold on to them until the county facility is open again.
The county landfill remains open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Residents entering the landfill must remain in their vehicles and wait for staff to assist them.

Contact the county solid waste office at 218-824-1290 with questions or concerns.
