A 40&8 nurses scholarship fundraiser breakfast will be served from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday, Aug. 9, at the Pequot Lakes American Legion Post #49.
Wild blueberry pancakes, sausage, eggs, coffee and juice will be served. Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for ages 12 and younger.
The 40&8 is a charitable honor society of American veterans. La Societe des Quarante Hommes et Huit Chevaux (The Society of Forty Men and Eight Horses) began issuing nurses training scholarships in 1941.
Since the national program's inception in 1955, La Societe has spent more than $33,400,450 and helped 4,900 nurses obtain their degrees. In 2019, $419,186 plus cash expenditures were donated with 330 nurses in training and 171 nurses graduating.
