Nisswa-stämman instrumental, singing and dancing workshops will be offered from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, June 10. This is an opportunity for anyone who has ever been interested in learning to play, sing or dance to Scandinavian folk music.
Each year, the Nisswa-stämman Scandinavian Folk Music Festival brings top level folk musicians from Scandinavia to Nisswa. They not only perform at the festival, but they also share their talents with aspiring students on the day before the festival.
There will be workshops in Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish and Danish fiddling; accordion and folk-cello workshops; "ensemble workshops" where all instruments are welcome; Swedish toasting songs; old-time couple dancing; and the steamy Finnish tango.
These workshops all require advance registration and there is a fee. For more information, visit www.nisswastamman.org/stamma/workshops16.html or email or call Janet Hill at janethillnew@gmail.com or 218-259-4090.
