Nisswa School: Fourth-graders receive diplomas, toss caps

Nisswa Elementary School fourth-graders prepare to move on to new schools next year, and each tossed a graduation cap in the air Friday, May 20, after a program celebrating their years at Nisswa School.

Nisswa Elementary School fourth-graders prepare to move on to new schools next year, and each tossed a graduation cap in the air Friday, May 20, after a program celebrating their years at Nisswa School.

The students marched into the gym to "Pomp and Circumstance" and sang "Fifty Nifty United States" in front of family and friends. Several fourth-graders shared their memories of each grade they attended at Nisswa School before awards and diplomas were handed out.

Award winners were:

• Twyla Doty Reading Award: Keaton Lingenfelter and Vanessa Anderson.

• BlackRidge Bank Math Award: Gus Ulm and Lila Collins.

• Erika Rempe Writing Award: Nate Herkenhoff and Scarlett Anderson.

• Judy Lykins Music Award: Julia Wheeler and Grant Johnson.

• Northway Art Award: Ella Kratochvil, Elyse Peterson and Ava Juranek.

Students sang "Count on Me," watched a slideshow and tossed their caps in the air as they graduated to fifth grade.
