Nisswa City Council member Mike Hoff is stepping down with two years left in his term because he moved out of the city limits.
The council will accept Hoff’s resignation and address how to fill the resulting council vacancy at its meeting Wednesday, Dec. 16. A draft resolution the council will consider calls for the council to declare the vacancy, request letters of interest for the seat be submitted to the city administrator by Jan. 4, 2021, and then appoint someone through 2022.
Hoff was first elected in 2018 and served two years of his four-year term.
In a letter addressed to residents, city staff and council members, Hoff wrote:
“I've recently moved out of Nisswa proper, and so I'm writing today to offer my formal notice that I'll be leaving my job as city council member. My last day will be Dec. 31, 2020. I am still calling Nisswa home, but no longer live in a spot that qualifies me for my seat.
