The Gull Chain of Lakes Association (GCOLA) held its third annual gala July 28 to a sold-out capacity of more than 400 supporters of the lakes area chain of lakes.
The event was held at Grand View Lodge in Nisswa and included a dinner, silent auction and speaker.
Speaker was Peter Sorenson from the University of Minnesota's Aquatic Invasive Species Research Center who spoke on "The Future of Our Lakes: Challenges and Opportunities."
"The support from the surrounding community of providing items for our silent auction was outstanding," said GCOLA event publicity chair Hoot Gibson. "Nineteen of those contributors became sponsoring supporters with donations in excess of $500."
Vincent Veber of Los Angeles, California, was the winner of a trip for two to one of four locations: Dublin, Ireland; Rome, Italy; Kauai, Hawaii; or Maui, Hawaii. Door prize winner of the two-person kayak was Wayne Mandery of Nisswa.
