BENA, Minn. — An unidentified person was found dead Sunday, Feb. 13, in a mobile home fire on U.S. Highway 2 in northern Cass County.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office responded to the fire, reported at 12:23 a.m., in Unorganized Township, near Bena. According to the report from the sheriff’s office, responders arrived on scene and found a mobile home engulfed in flames.
After the fire was extinguished, a search of the residence was conducted and an individual was found deceased.
An autopsy is scheduled with the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting with the ongoing investigation.

Bena is about 35 miles east of Bemidji along Highway 2.
Assisting at the fire scene were Leech Lake Tribal Police Department, Federal Dam Fire Department, Cass Lake Fire Department and Deer River Ambulance.
