Minnesota man dies in snowmobile accident

GORDON, Wis. -- A 70-year-old Afton, Minn., man was killed Saturday near Gordon in far northwest Wisconsin when his snowmobile left the roadway and struck trees.

GORDON, Wis. -- A 70-year-old Afton, Minn., man was killed Saturday near Gordon in far northwest Wisconsin when his snowmobile left the roadway and struck trees.

Robert Kaye was declared dead at the scene after the crash was reported at 7:28 p.m., said the Douglas County Sheriff's Office in a news release.

Members of Kaye’s riding party went back to look for him after he failed to arrive at a checkpoint, the Sheriff's Office said.

Lifesaving efforts were administered at the scene, and the crash remains under investigation.
