Northwest Technical College

Jennifer Rudquist, a freshman from Hackensack majoring in medical coding, received a Workforce Development Scholarship from Northwest Technical College. NTC awarded $112,500 in Workforce Development Scholarships to 45 students enrolled in programs that support in-demand careers. Funded by an appropriation from the Legislature, the WDS program offers $2,500 scholarships to students who enroll in programs leading to high demand occupations in health care services, advanced manufacturing, information technology, transportation, early childhood education or agriculture.

South Dakota State University

The following local students were named to the spring semester dean's list at South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota: Nicholas Isaac Krantz, East Gull Lake, Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering; Reid Albert Pierzinski, Lake Shore, Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering; Jaelyn Elizabeth Kappes, Merrifield, College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions; Skylor Maurice Hensch, Pequot Lakes, Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering.

Nancy Vogt is editor of the Pineandlakes Echo Journal, a weekly newspaper that covers eight communities in the Pequot Lakes-Pine River areas - from Nisswa to Hackensack and Pequot Lakes to Crosslake.

She started as editor of the Lake Country Echo in July 2006, and continued in that role when the Lake Country Echo and the Pine River Journal combined in September 2013 to become the Pineandlakes Echo Journal. She worked for the Brainerd Dispatch from 1992-2006 in various roles.

She covers Nisswa, Pequot Lakes, Lake Shore and Crosslake city councils, as well as writes feature stories, news stories and personal columns (Vogt's Notes). She also takes photos at community events.
