University of Wisconsin-Madison

Ellen Hickman, Merrifield, was named to the University of Wisconsin-Madison spring semester dean's list. She attends the College of Letters and Science.

Bethel University, St. Paul

The following two students from Nisswa were named to the spring semester dean's list at Bethel University in St. Paul: Lilliana Jorgens, a senior, the daughter of Chandra and Matthew Jorgens; and Madelyn Pearson, a sophomore, the daughter of Brian and Jenni Pearson.

University of Minnesota-Crookston

The following area students graduated from the University of Minnesota-Crookston this spring: Megan E. Doughty, Hackensack, Bachelor of Science degree in equine science; Chloe Ruth Smith, Lake Shore, Bachelor of Science degree in finance with high distinction; and Britta Lynn Boozell, Nisswa, Bachelor of Science degree in finance.

North Dakota State University

The following area students graduated from North Dakota State University in Fargo this spring: Amanda Katherine Nies, Breezy Point, Bachelor of Science degree in pharmaceutical sciences; Matt Confeld, Nisswa, Doctor of Philosophy degree in pharmaceutical sciences; Courtney Margaret O'Hotto, Nisswa, Masters in Education degree in counseling; Kristy Marie Peterson, Nisswa, Bachelor of Science degree in pharmaceutical sciences.

Iowa State University

Jacklyn Levey, of Crosslake, graduated cum laude from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in genetics.

University of Minnesota, Crookston

Melissa Olson, of Pequot Lakes, was named to the University of Minnesota, Crookston Chancellor's List for spring semester. Olson is majoring in finance.

Nancy Vogt is editor of the Pineandlakes Echo Journal, a weekly newspaper that covers eight communities in the Pequot Lakes-Pine River areas - from Nisswa to Hackensack and Pequot Lakes to Crosslake.

She started as editor of the Lake Country Echo in July 2006, and continued in that role when the Lake Country Echo and the Pine River Journal combined in September 2013 to become the Pineandlakes Echo Journal. She worked for the Brainerd Dispatch from 1992-2006 in various roles.

She covers Nisswa, Pequot Lakes, Lake Shore and Crosslake city councils, as well as writes feature stories, news stories and personal columns (Vogt's Notes). She also takes photos at community events.
