University of Minnesota-Crookston

Jonathan Bristow of Backus graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in agronomy, and Malae Poisson of Jenkins earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting, both from the University of Minnesota-Crookston at the end of spring semester.

Tomas Parker of Pequot Lakes was named to the spring semester dean’s list at the University of Minnesota, Crookston.

St. John’s University

Lucas Fyle, the son of Jeremy and Cindi Fyle of Pequot Lakes, was named to the spring semester dean’s list at St. John’s University in Collegeville. Fyle is a first-year biology and psychology major.

College of St. Scholastica

Kacy Livingston has been accepted at The College of St. Scholastica in Duluth for entry in fall 2014. Livingston, a 2014 graduate of Pequot Lakes High School, is the daughter of Dave and Stacy Livingston of Pequot Lakes. Livingston is the recipient of a Benedictine Scholarship and is planning to major in exercise physiology.

College of St. Benedict

Josephine Nistler, the daughter of Peter and Lori Nistler of Breezy Point, was named to the spring semester dean’s list at the College of St. Benedict. Nistler is a first-year biochemistry major.

Bemidji State University

The following area students graduated from Bemidji State University at the end of spring semester: Dallas Steffen of Backus, Bachelor of Science degree in mass communication; Tyler Carraway of Pine River, Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice; Kassandra Ward of Pine River, Bachelor of Science degree in nursing, four-year track; and Dillon Loren of Longville, Bachelor of Science degrees in accounting and business administration.

Curry College

Kylie Beltz of Pine River was named to the spring semester dean’s list at Curry College in Milton, Massachusetts.

Minnesota State University, Mankato

The following area students were named to the spring semester dean’s list at Minnesota State University, Mankato: Chelsey Thorson of Breezy Point, senior, high honor list; Kristina Wiebold of Crosslake, junior, honor list; Jacqueline Thurlow of Nisswa, senior, high honor list; Mariah Anderson of Pequot Lakes, sophomore, honor list; and Kailee Gudahl of Pequot Lakes, senior, honor list.

Winona State University

Markie Abramo and Sierra Zeidler, both of Breezy Point, were named to the spring term dean’s list at Winona State University.

University of Northwestern-St. Paul

The following area students were named to the spring semester dean’s list at the University of Northwestern-St. Paul: Hunter Smith of Backus, Anna Kloster of Breezy Point, Elizabeth Dodd of Hackensack, Katie Morford of Pequot Lakes and Jamie Sewall of Pequot Lakes.

Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College

Isabel Lawrence, a Pine River-Backus High School graduate, graduated from Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College in Shell Lake, Wisconsin, as a nursing assistant.

North Dakota State University

Megan Malecha, the daughter of Robert and Jodi Malecha of Breezy Point, has been admitted to North Dakota State University (NDSU) in Fargo “with distinction.” She will enter NDSU this fall and plans to major in psychology. Distinction means NDSU acknowledges Malecha as an honor student. At Pequot Lakes High School, Malecha was active in Interact Club, pep band, band, Link Crew and National Honor Society.

Central Lakes College
