CROSSLAKE — Six Pequot Lakes students’ efforts piled high at Crosslake’s Historic Log Village for the high school's Day of Caring on May 4.

Pequot Lakes High School’s annual day of community service sends students throughout the lakes area to help with spring cleaning and various jobs community members need.

The students spent the day cleaning up limbs, branches and scattered downed wood with Tom White, of the Crosslake Area Historical Society. Their wood pile had grown to shoulder height by the time they were finished.

The historical society, which manages the log village, was thankful for the young men who chose the historical society to benefit from their generosity.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "Pineandlakes Echo Journal." Often, the "Pineandlakes Echo Journal" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
