The Pequot Lakes speech team traveled to Perham on Saturday, March 12, and earned first place in the team sweepstakes against 18 other teams.
Placing for the Patriots were: Tabitha Kibwaa, first in Extemp Speaking and third in Drama; Olvia Armstrong, second in Poetry; Veronica Broskovetz, second in Discussion; Zoe Huber, second in Extemp Reading; Steve Maschhoff, third in Extemp Speaking; Madeleine Hoag, third in Extemp Reading; Avery Larson, third in Informative; Hunter Johnson, fourth in Discussion; Haidyn Sangren, fourth in Great Speeches; Sonja Palmer, fifth in Extemp Reading; Ryan Fritz, fifth in Extemp Speaking; Teagan Johnson, fifth in Storytelling; Alexis Shaw, sixth in Extemp Speaking and Tyler Hushagen, fifth in the honor final of Discussion.
The next team competition for the Patriots will be subsections in Menahga on April 2.
