Pequot Lakes Patriots place in speech tournament

The next tournament is Jan. 29 in Fergus Falls.

PEQUOT LAKES — The Pequot Lakes High School speech team participated Saturday, Jan. 15, in the Pequot Lakes Early Bird Speech Tournament.

This was the first in-person tournament since March 2020.

Placing for the Patriots were: Tabitha Kibwaa, first in extemporaneous speaking; Ryan Fritz, fifth in extemporaneous speaking; and Steve Maschoff, seventh in extemporaneous speaking.

The team from St. Cloud Tech won the large entry team sweepstakes with Staples-Motley finishing second and Sartell finishing third. East Grand Forks captured first place in the small entry team sweepstakes.

The Patriots' next tournament is Jan. 29 in Fergus Falls.
