PEQUOT LAKES — The Pequot Lakes Fire District hosted an open house Wednesday, Oct. 12, drawing in many young would be firefighters to the fire hall in Pequot Lakes.
In addition to a light meal and bouncy house, there was a lot for kids to do at the event, including the opportunity for fire truck rides.
Inside the building, firefighters set up a skills obstacle course. Outside in the parking lot, people got to practice putting out a real fire with a fire extinguisher.
Participants in the fire extinguisher demonstration learned the fire district's acronym for operating an extinguisher, called PASS: pull the pin, aim at the base of the fire, squeeze the handle, sweep side to side.
