NISSWA — The Nisswa Women’s Club will meet Thursday, July 21, at the Northland Arboretum in Brainerd.

Patrick Spradlin, the recently retired Central Lakes College theater director and producer of the Cultural Art Series, will be the guest speaker. His topic is the role of performing arts in building a strong community.

Spradlin has spent the past 30 years developing the community arts program that benefits both CLC and the Brainerd lakes area.

Social hour is at 11:30 a.m. and will allow for the purchase of tickets for the Aug. 18 Centennial Celebration. Lunch will be served at noon for $25.

President Ann Swanson will lead a short meeting after Spradlin’s presentation, and Betty Arveson will offer an inspirational message. Guests are welcome.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "Pineandlakes Echo Journal." Often, the "Pineandlakes Echo Journal" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
