Nisswa Lions Club offers scholarships

Students within the school district maps of Brainerd and Pequot Lakes can apply.

The Nisswa Lions Club offers 12 scholarships to graduating seniors who live within the district maps of the Brainerd and Pequot Lakes school districts.

Each scholarship is $2,000.

Traditional students, distance learning students, online academy students, home-school students and Christian school students are eligible to apply as long as they live within those two school district boundaries.

Ten scholarships are given to students entering a two-year or four-year college/university. Two scholarships are given to students going into a vocational-technical or trade school/program.

Scholarship applications are available at Brainerd, Pequot Lakes, Lake Region and Crosslake Community schools.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "Pineandlakes Echo Journal." Often, the "Pineandlakes Echo Journal" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
