NISSWA — Lutheran Church of the Cross in Nisswa will have an introduction to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America's Declaration to American Indian/Alaska Native people at 10:40 a.m. July 17.

"This is an opportunity for us to grow together as a synod and become more familiar with the Declaration so that we can all be walking together in the bridge building work before us," church officials said in a news release.

This event is open to anyone who would like to attend.

Deacon Colleen Bernu - Fond Du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa community member, synod minister to Northeastern Minnesota Synod, and team member on Presiding Bishop Eaton's Repudiation of the Doctrine of Discovery Task Force - will facilitate conversation.

Often, the "Pineandlakes Echo Journal" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
