CROSSLAKE — A free Crosslake Chautauqua program will feature Alden Hardwick talking about nearby day trips for Minnesotans from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Thursday, July 21, at the Crosslake Community Center.

The presentation, Unexplored Territory: Nearby Excursions You Never Thought to Take, will highlight the nearby and hidden wonders of the state, including lost forests, museums, seldom-visited state parks, historical sites, mines, undiscovered eateries, theaters and gorgeous gardens.

The trips are all within a two-hour drive, generally not crowded and affordable.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "Pineandlakes Echo Journal." Often, the "Pineandlakes Echo Journal" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
