Northern Brainerd lakes area students honored for academics

University of Wisconsin-Madison

The following local students recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison: Claire Mcquiston, Merrifield, College of Letters and Science, Bachelor of Science with honors in the liberal arts, neurobiology and psychology; Kennedy Kleist, Pequot Lakes, College of Letters and Science, Bachelor of Arts, political science, graduated with distinction.

St. Olaf College

Calvin Foss, of Nisswa, was named to the spring semester dean’s list at St. Olaf College in Northfield. He is the son of John and Jeanni Foss and majors in biology.

New York Institute of Technology

Ashlynn Reynolds, of Pequot Lakes, was one of more than 900 students who received degrees from New York Institute of Technology in Old Westbury, New York, as spring graduates. Reynolds received a bachelor of fine arts degree in graphic design.

North Dakota State University

Ciera Wheeler, daughter of Elaine and Al Sikkink of Pequot Lakes, received the North Dakota State University Provost Award at NDSU in Fargo, North Dakota. The award recognizes students who scored a 25-28 on the ACT and have a 3.5 or higher high school GPA. Wheeler will enter NDSU in the fall and major in interior design.
