50 years ago, March 2, 1972

The first issue of the Country Echo is published.

Shari Rubey is crowned Miss Pine River. Jeanette Bowden and Kathy Patrick are first and second runners-up, respectively.


The Pequot Lakes Legion celebrates its 60th anniversary.

30 years ago, March 4, 1992

Lynn Couch is named Pequot Lakes Teacher of the Year.

Jay Andolshek is appointed to the Fifty Lakes City Council.

20 years ago, March 7, 2002

Road Crew wrestlers Josh Bresnahan and Shane Walton finish third and sixth at state, respectively.

Officials from the city of Pequot Lakes and Sibley Township agree to take a potential merger to a vote on March 12.

Mattie Lueck and Travis Noska are named Pequot Lakes High School’s SnoDaze queen and king.

Four Road Crew wrestlers – Drey Loge, Anthony Philipson, Darian Rubner and Peter Harrison – qualify for the state meet.
