Essentia Health to host virtual advance care planning classes

Classes are free and virtual.

We are part of The Trust Project.

BRAINERD — Essentia Health will host free, virtual advance care planning classes from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, and from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16.

ACP is a process that helps you think about talk about your choices for health care in the future. It’s important for every adult to have an advance directive, also known as a living will or health care directive.

Everyone is invited to join in thought-provoking conversation to discover the value of ACP, reflect on values, choose a health care agent, explore goals for treatment and take steps toward completing a health care directive.

By having these conversations proactively, you can ensure your preferences are understood if you become unable to make medical decisions by yourself due to an accident, injury or sudden illness.

Registration and more information on ACP are available on the Essentia Health website.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "Pineandlakes Echo Journal." Often, the "Pineandlakes Echo Journal" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
