PINE RIVER — Fifty-three individual youth and three clubs from Cass County’s 4-H program showcased their learning and achievements at the Cass County Fair in Pine River on June 21-26.

Youth spend months working on projects designed to equip them with essential life skills such as problem-solving, decision-making, project management, communications and public speaking. They then share their accomplishments and educate the public about their subject at their local county fair.

Those who demonstrate the highest achievements are selected to participate in 4-H at the Minnesota State Fair.

“We are so proud of the work our local youth put into their projects once again this year, and the personal growth observed in each of your 4-H’ers from last year was incredible,” Brook Remer, local extension educator, said in a news release. “Seeing our 4-H’ers showcase this year, it is clear that, when our youth set their sights on a project area they are passionate about, there is no end to their potential.”

The following exhibitors and their projects earned the top honors of grand or reserve champions at the Cass County Fair in Pine River:

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "Pineandlakes Echo Journal." Often, the "Pineandlakes Echo Journal" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources.
