Land & Waters Preservation Trust Endowment will award $15,000 in grants to projects in April 2022.
Land & Waters, administered by the Initiative Foundation, is a joint endowment of Whitefish Area Property Owners Association and the Pine River Watershed Alliance.
The grant application submission period is open until March 1, 2022. Land & Waters may request additional information from applicants, with a response deadline of March 15, 2022.
Grants will be made on April 1, 2022, and projects should be completed in 2022. Project grants will be made for proposals from 501(c)(3) organizations that fit one or more of the following priorities:
Enhance and protect surface and aquifer water quality in the Pine River Watershed.
Support sustainable riparian land management practices.
Protect habitat for native plants and animals.
Previous applicants have received grants for projects, including a runoff abatement project on County Road 66 in Crosslake; shoreland restoration and community education; aquatic invasive species prevention education; stormwater remediation; reduction of sediment and phosphorus in downstream lakes and streams.
Applicants may be lake associations, local units of government or environmental groups. Projects proposed by the two parent organizations, WAPOA and PRWA, will also be considered.
