Flu shots will be available at Lakewood Health System during any regularly scheduled clinic appointments starting Monday, Oct. 2.
Walk-ins are also welcome during regular clinic hours from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday in Staples, Browerville, Eagle Bend, Motley and Pillager. They are also available from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 14, and from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, in Staples.
According to studies done by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the nasal spray flu vaccine used in past years was found to be ineffective, and the CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices voted that it will not be used or distributed during the 2017-18 flu season. Therefore, Lakewood will only be using traditional flu "shot" and recommends it for everyone 6 months and older.
