Zoning and rezoning was the main focus in a brief Lake Shore City Council meeting Monday, July 26.

The council approved two different resolutions amending the city’s zoning map. City Administrator Teri Hastings said the two resolutions were “basically duplicating” actions the council took in recent months.

The first resolution acknowledged the rezoning of a portion of Rocky Point from Wooded Residential to Low Density Residential; and the second acknowledged an action taken earlier in the meeting, where the council unanimously approved a rezoning request from resident Roger Lykins, rezoning a lot on Pinehurst Lane (Lykin’s Pinehurst Resort) from Waterfront Commercial to Medium Density Residential.

In other action Monday, the council:

  • Adopted a resolution supporting Legacy funding for Fairview Township’s portion of the Gull Lake Trail.

  • Approved a final pay estimate for Anderson Brothers Construction for 2020 street improvements.

  • Accepted the resignation of city public works employee Bob Heidelberger, effective mid-August.

In June, the Lake Shore Police Department responded to 185 incidents, including one crash, one fire and one theft. Police Chief Steve Sundstrom called it a typical summer month with nothing out of the ordinary.
Mayor Krista Knudsen was not in attendance.
