There will be an opportunity to sign up to become a member or to renew membership at the annual Lake Hattie Lake Association picnic on Saturday, July 26.
At the Lake Hattie Lake Association's annual meeting May 24, Darby Nelson was the guest speaker.
All who attended the meeting and ice cream social had the chance to win drawings for two prizes - Nelson's book "For Love of Lakes" and a birdhouse donated by lake resident Steve Gallop.
"We say we 'love' our lakes, and crowded shores and the crush to buy lakeshore at astronomical prices suggests we speak truth. Yet our lakes deteriorate, and much of the deterioration results from our own actions. In healthy relationships we care for and protect what we value. What explains the paradox?" Nelson asked.
Lake association members have supported the association for the past 11 years and helped fulfill its mission to maintain or improve the living, recreational, environmental and ecological conditions of the Lake Hattie watershed.
