Jenkins: Council chooses payment plan for road improvement

The Jenkins City Council approved a payment plan for improvement of Shanty Court and Brown Boulevard north of Ackerman Trail, according to a summary of the actions from the Monday, Oct. 12, council meeting.

The Jenkins City Council approved a payment plan for improvement of Shanty Court and Brown Boulevard north of Ackerman Trail, according to a summary of the actions from the Monday, Oct. 12, council meeting.

Assessment of the improvement project is to be charged to properties located along the roads to be improved with equal annual installments over a period of five years starting the first Monday in January 2016.

The road improvement, requested by homeowners along the road, was done by Schrupp Excavating. The city also approved payment to Schrupp Excavating for the improvement.

In other business, the Jenkins City Council:

• Approved installation of power in the northwest corner of Veterans Park for up to $1,000.

• Approved removal of old blocks from city restrooms.

• Approved installation of newly purchased monkey bars.

• Scheduled the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony for 5-7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4.

• Approved an estimate for construction of Ellis Road to pre-bituminous standards.

• Approved an 80/20 split for specially assessed pre-bituminous road projects in areas with existing building structures.
