The Ideal Transfer Station will begin spring hours of operation Wednesday, April 18. Hours will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays.
The transfer station is not a landfill. None of the materials disposed there remain there. All materials are hauled away and disposed of properly.
Items that can be dropped at the transfer station for a fee include household garbage, metal, appliances, electronics, mattresses and furniture. Garden materials such as leaves, grass clippings and lake weeds can be composted for free. Brush can be dropped for a small fee, and the station takes blocked wood to be used as firewood at the Rollie Johnson Recreation Area. There is an annual permit required to use the facility that can be purchased at the station.
The station also has a recycling center where glass bottles, tin and aluminum containers, and paper can be dropped for free. During the summer, the station also accepts household hazardous materials such as paint, stain and other household chemicals for free.
A disposal guide with a list of items that can be brought to the station and the fees for each type of item is available at the station or at idealtownship.com.
