At its Jan. 10 monthly meeting, the Ideal Community Service Organization awarded a grant request from Bonnie Coffey, board president of the Ideal Green Market Cooperative, for $2,500 for the market to continue its mission in the community of providing access to local and sustainable foods and to provide education and community activities.

The request for funds was made to help the IGMC with 2019 community activities, which include an indoor farmers market from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at the Ideal Town Hall. Farmers, food and household goods entrepreneurs, artists and gardeners are invited to be vendors at this event.

A pancake breakfast likely will be held the weekend of Memorial Day, and outdoor farmers markets will run Saturdays from Memorial Day weekend to October, weather permitting. Educational classes by co-op members are also being planned for members and non-members.

The grant from ICSO will help with the expenses incurred with these activities.

"On behalf of the board and member owners of the IGMC, we are grateful to be able to have the Ideal Community Service Organization assist us with our community activities," Coffey said.
