In its Monday, Aug. 3, meeting, the Breezy Point City Council agreed to purchase three parcels of land totaling $13,465.57. The land was for sale in Crow Wing County’s July 24 auction.

The city intends to use the parcels to expand the disc golf course.

"The city was looking for, basically, an additional access to the golf course so we can expand another 18 holes to the northern part of that area,” Mayor Tom Lillehei said.

In other action Aug. 3, the council:

  • Approved a final pay request of $193,793.48 from Northern Lines Construction for road and sewer improvements on Whitebirch Drive, Papago Circle and Suffolk Drive.

  • Approved a city street condition survey proposal from Widseth engineering firm, with costs totaling $6,600. The city requested this be done during the summer.

  • Approved preliminary and final replats of the Copperud addition.

  • Approved the retirement of public works employee David Johnson, effective Saturday, Sept. 19.

In July, the Breezy Point Police Department responded to 224 incidents, a decrease of 20 from July 2019. Among the incidents were three thefts, two crashes, two fires and one traffic arrest.
