Jenkins Mayor Jon Lubke sought permission from the city council to attend a Crow Wing County meeting to speak on behalf of the council concerning a policy on road projects.

Lubke said at the Tuesday, Nov. 12, council meeting that the city itself was only given notice and a copy of the policy on Nov. 5, the same day as a meeting with the Association of Crow Wing County Townships at which the document was discussed.

The new policy is similar to the former policy, Lubke said. However, it has clarified or "tightened up" some language in the policy, especially concerning the county policy on cost share agreements.

Lubke said he wanted to bring this issue of short notice to the attention of the county as an official voice of the council, but would only do so with permission from council members. The council agreed.

In other business, the council:

  • Discussed finding additional training opportunities for council members.
  • Discussed possibly arranging a meeting at the local school as a classroom learning event.
