Foothills State Forest dirt bike crash results in serious injuries

Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch reports that at 12:11 p.m. Saturday, May 1, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an off highway motorcycle crash in the Foothills State Forest, Spider Lake Recreation Area in rural Backus.

Deputies and responders arrived on scene and learned that the OHM was operating on a trail when the operator, a female, age 42, of Frazee, struck rocks in the trail causing the machine to crash and the operator to fall from the machine onto the rocks.

The victim was treated on scene for serious injuries and transported to a Fargo, North Dakota, hospital.

Assisting on scene were Minnesota Department of Natural Resources conservation officers, Backus Fire Department, North Memorial Ambulance and AirCare.
