Children camping at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Campground in Crosslake and others participated in the annual Kids Fishing Derby on Saturday, Aug. 8.
After attending three stations to learn about aquatic invasive species, rope tying and fishing lines, the children fished for two hours at the Corps of Engineers recreation area. After baiting hooks with worms, casting and keeping a watchful eye on the bobber, children reeled in lots of fish.
Prizes were given for the biggest and smallest fish, and all children won prizes in a raffle drawing.
