This annual event, with other special events at the camp, helps families like the Garaghtys send their three children with Down syndrome for a week of camping on the Whitefish Chain of Lakes.

Byron and Kari Garaghty have adopted five children with Down syndrome ages 6 months to 12 years. They were looking for a camping experience that was safe, fun and welcoming to their 10-, 11- and 12-year-old kids. They found all they were looking for and more at Camp Knutson.

To buy a ticket to the Western Round-Up at Night Under the Stars, contact Sharon Elmquist at 218-692-1142 by July 12. A $75 ticket includes a catered buffet dinner and a live and silent auction.

Camp Knutson is a nonprofit organization providing camping experiences for children with special needs, including autism, Down syndrome, heart disease, severe skin conditions and families affected by HIV and AIDS.
